Conformal Antenna Market

A conformal antenna is a form of phased array antenna. They consist of an array of many identical small planar antenna elements, such as dipoles, horns or patch antennas, covering the surface. At each antenna, the current from the transmitter passes through phase shifter devices, which are all controlled by a microprocessor (computer). By controlling the phase of the feed current, the non-directional radio waves emitted by each antenna can be combined in front of the antenna through the interference process to form a strong radio wave beam (or beams) pointing in any desired direction. The weak individual radio signals received by each antenna element are combined in the correct phase to enhance the signal from a specific direction, thus making the antenna sensitive to signals from a specific site and rejecting interfering signals from other directions.
